Blog # 2: sept 14-19

The traits of duty, piety, and loyalty were highly prized by the ancient Romans. What three traits would students choose to define the ideal American citizen? Is it even possible to create such a definition in today's society?

I believe that it is not possible to characterize the typical American citizen. America is one of the most accepting countries to other beliefs, therefore the typical American citizen can range from an Indian woman who believes she should only work in the home, to the Israeli woman who is an independent Doctor. To limit the many religions, cultures, and traits that people posses to three simple words would be nearly impossible.

The three traits i would use to define the ideal citizen is trustworthiness, honest, and hardworking.
It is not possible to create that definition because it's just not feasible due to that everybody is different.

I do not believe this is possible because everyone has a weakness and is different and sometimes what you think is best isn't always best.

We live in a very diverse society. One might think that it is impossible to create three universally accepted traits for the ideal American citizen, especially because everything becomes a political issue lately. Based on my morals and views I believe it is possible to define such three traits. The three traits I choose to define the ideal American citizen are loyalty to the country, respecting the diversity, and actively participating in the democratic processes such as elections and in the legal system (jury). Others might think there are other ideal traits such as self-reliance, creativity, responsibility, motivation, and being well educated. Even my self is having a difficult time prioritizing these traits. Therefore my answer is people will not agree to three traits.

Three words I would use to describe the ideal America citizen are friendship, family, and loyalty.

I don't think its possible to say that everyone feels the same because everyone feels differently about what is most important to them.

Three traits I would use do define the ideal American citizen would be friendship, respect, and independence. Many people, not only Americans are needy and they need to always have something or someone to be there for them. Americans also want to live the perfect life and have a sense of belonging and to be accepted by others. I think there are different traits among different religions, races, ethnic backgrounds..etc. So yes it is nearly impossible to create such a definition or three specific traits because everyone is different, regardless.

The ideal American citizen would be loyal, honest, and well-mannered, However, it is not easy to create a definition for the idea American citizen because our culture combines elements of many other cultures, therefore American people have different characteristics.

The traits to describe american society today would probably be technological, lazy, struggling.

America has been taken over by technology that do easy tasks for them therfore making them lazy. Along with the fact of the bad economy playing its role in stuggling americans

  10. The ideal American citizen is patriotic, aware and hard-working. However, this is the ideal citizen, the majority of Americans are not ideal citizens and choose to focus on themselves and not as a person who is a part of a society. We are much to engrossed in our own problems and everyday conflicts to be the model member of our communities, this is a downfall for America because the country worked at its best when everyone was involved.

3 traits to describe american citizenship would be freedom, respect, and loyalty.

I don't think that there is such a definition because everyone is different and have different personalities. Which makes them individuals, and not everyone thinks alike.

I don't think its possible to have a society like this today. There are to many corrupt people on this earth who are greedy, mean and dishonest.

In our society today I do not believe you can characterize an American none less a human being in general. Everyone has specific traits, its what makes you and what makes them. We do not have enough traits to use for categorizing a human being, you would have to make up words just to get there.

  15. The three top standards for an American citizen put forth by society would be educated, moral, and economically proficient. Society does hold standards for people. That does not mean that ever person fufills them or that there is no diversity, but every society does have standards.

Three traits that would describe an american citizen to me would be Loyal, hardworking, and standing up for what you think is right.

Having a society like the one we have right now is not possible. There are to many people that want everything for themselves and have no care for other what so ever.

The three traits that I think can be found in an "ideal" American citizen are accepting, trustworthy, and sympathetic.

True, it is very difficult to stereotype an average American person because all U.S. citizens are so incredibly diverse. However, I believe these traits can be found in the majority of American citizens, despite their race, gender, ethnicity, or social class.

Three traits that I think define an american citizen would be hardworking, loyal, and tolerant. Having a society that is very dynamic is hard to define an entire population in three individual traits.

I believe that the three traits an ideal American should have are loyalty, being politically aware, and not being prejudice against everyone. I belive that an ideal citizen could indeed exist, but it is very hard to find one in this day in age due to all of the distractions that are present.

In my opinion three traits that make for the ideal American citizen are being compassionate, patriotic , and hard-working, I do not believe that there are nessecarily three traits that can describe the ideal citizen, one of the great things about America is the diversity and blending of cultures which would be lost if everyone acted the same.

I dont believe that it is possible to create a definition for an ideal citizen, because of how diverse is the United Sates there is a mix of many cultures. That probably have different views on what is an ideal citizen.
